Trump Praises Hagerty Opposition to Biden Infrastructure Bill, Congratulates Him for ‘Remaining True to America First’

Former President Donald Trump praised opposition from Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) relating to the new, bipartisan infrastructure deal.

“Congratulations to Senator Bill Hagerty in remaining true to “AMERICA FIRST!” Trump said in the statement released on Sunday afternoon.

Trump also highlighted the basis for his opposition to the proposed legislation.

“This is not an infrastructure bill, this is the beginning of the Green New Deal. The bill I proposed, which Mitch McConnell couldn’t do anything with, was pure infrastructure. I want what is best for America, not what’s best for the Communist Democrat Party. This will be a big victory for the Democrats and will be used against Republicans in the upcoming elections. Schumer is using the threat of ‘we can do it the hard way or do it the easy way’ and keeping people in town,” he said.

Hagerty’s actions prevented lawmakers from expediting the passage of the legislation.

In detailing his opposition to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Hagerty said the new law would assist Democrats in their goal to “make American citizens more dependent on their government.”

“I am frustrated with this legislation is because it is tied to the Democrats’ real ambition, which is their multi-trillion-dollar march to socialism that they will unveil right after this infrastructure legislation is passed. Democrats have admitted this is the plan. The far left wing of the Democrat Party—which is effectively calling the shots these days—is demanding that Democrats here in Congress spend trillions of dollars to reshape American society—to make American citizens more dependent on their government,” he said while speaking on the Senate floor.

Furthermore, the legislation is not fully “paid for,” as the negotiators of the bill claimed, and will add addition debt to the country.

While Hagerty’s actions temporarily blocked the passage and encouraged the group to consider amendments, the chamber will likely vote to pass the legislation after securing support from several GOP lawmakers.
